January 17, 2012

OTC is excited to announce the addition of Martha Taylor as Director of Operations. She will work from the head office in Whitehorse.

“Martha is an invaluable addition to our team. Her experience in sport and tourism is perfectly aligned with OTC’s focus and brand,” stated Dee Enright, President and CEO. “Her commitment to excellence and attention to detail along with her great sense of humor makes her a perfect fit.”

Martha joins OTC with an impressive background in tourism, sport and recreation management, including 11 years operating Uncommon Journeys Ltd., a Yukon tour company that gained international recognition for it’s dogsledding, hiking and canoeing adventures.

She owned Uncommon Journeys with her husband Rod Taylor until the pair decided to retire the business this past fall.

Prior to that, Martha put her problem solving skills to good use as Sport Manager for the 2000 Arctic Winter Games, which were held in Whitehorse. Her duties included everything from transportation and security logistics to organizing sports equipment.

She also has extensive experience as manger of operations and as a wilderness guide for with Nahanni River Adventures and Canadian River Expeditions. She has guided trips in Yukon, NWT and Alaska.

"The work that OTC does is exciting and challenging, Dee and her team are talented and fun – I am thrilled to be joining this dynamic environment,” said Martha.

Martha completed a diploma in Outdoor Recreation Management at Capilano College and also holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario.

She will officially start at OTC’s Whitehorse office at the beginning of February.
