Martha Taylor

Back to our team

Martha's passion for the outdoors led her to the Yukon from Ontario in 1995 to pursue her dream of guiding canoe trips across the North.

After several seasons guiding canoeing and rafting trips from Alaska to the Northwest Territories in the summer, and organizing all the operational details in the winter, she joined the 2000 Arctic Winter Games in Whitehorse as the Sport Manager.

The eighteen exciting months working on the Games saw her juggling everything from transportation and security logistics to soccer balls and biathlon rifles, and ignited her enthusiasm for all areas of operational problem solving.

However, the call of the wild brought her back to the outdoors when she met and married Rod Taylor, owner of Uncommon Journeys Ltd in Whitehorse.  Together over the past 11 years, they developed UJ into an internationally recognized world-class dogsledding adventure company until its retirement this fall.

When not working, she can be found out with her sled dogs, on the slopes or paddling a river with her husband and young daughter, Hayley.
